Amazing Mixed Media Canvas

Happy Saturday! I just had to share this amazing gift my sweet friend Joanne gave me. Isn't it gorgeous?! She even shared instructions so I will share them with you so you can give this project a try. Trust me these make great gifts, I love mine!!

Step 1- Prepare your canvas by painting with desired basecoat. You can use Close to my Heart Pearl paint and tint with reinkers or with acrylic paint. You only need to worry about the edge that won't be covered with paper.

Step 2-Attach a patchwork of papers randomly and irregular shaped to canvas using Modge Podge or decoupage. Be sure to include some images cut from Art Philosophy and Artiste cartridges!

Step 3-If your background looks to bold, use a mild paint wash to tone it donw before applying your focal images.

Step 4-Doodle away! Outline and squiggle as desired using a permanent marker. You may need to wipe the tip of your pen occasionally if it seems to start skipping.

Step 5-Now the super fun part-use your mini pigment pads to start adding color, shadows and distressing. They blend wonderfully and look fabulous.

Step 6-Next you need to seal your canvas because the pigment ink will not dry on the decoupage surface. Use "artist fixative" it is clear and dries quickly. Be sure to spray in a VERY ventilated area.

Step 7-Now add your additional embellishments as desired. Rhinestones, pearls, buttons, metallics, ribbons and rub ons all look great.

Thanks for stopping by!
